The design of this coffee table was originally created in the 1930s. It perfectly illustrates the balance between classicism and modernism that characterized Ponti’ work.
Gio Ponti is known for his use of lattice or grid patterns in various furniture designs. Used here for the tabletop, the motif has a structural purpose – as it connects and supports the four legs – but also has a striking visual effect. The modern glass top highlights the finesse of the craftsmanship. The delicately curved and sculpted feet of the table complete the elegant design.
