These chairs were designed in 1932 by Axel Einar Hjorth for Nordiska Kompaniet, a luxurious department store for which Hjorth held the position of chief architect from 1927 to 1938.
With their simple and clean lines, the chairs present the rustic yet elegant aesthetic that characterized Hjorth’s design.
These chairs in sandblasted black stained pine were displayed at the 1932 Nordiska Kompaniet’s spring exhibition for the first time.
