Joaquin Tenreiro is renowned as one of the greatest furniture designers in Brazil. Leader of the Modernist movement, his work shows a perfect balance between modern concepts and traditional values. Lightness is the key word of his production. Unrelated to the weight of the object, the term refers to the functionality and elegancy the furniture expresses in its surroundings.

Tenreiro always favored the use of tropical hardwoods and materials that could adapt to the exotic temperatures of Brazil. The light structure and the combination of rosewood and woven cane of this chair illustrate the skilled craftmanship of the designer.
