Carl Harry Stålhane (1920-1990) is a prominent Swedish artist. After obtaining initial training in painting and sculpture, he joined the renowned Rörstrand factory in 1939. Under the guidance of the expressionist Isaac Grünewald, Stålhane initially focused on painting terracotta before gaining recognition at an exhibition at the National Museum of Sweden alongside his mentor Gunnar Nylund.

In the 1940s, he achieved international acclaim for his iconic ceramics, characterized by elongated and symmetrical forms, often rendered in monochrome and featuring a matte glaze, inspired by ancient ceramics from the Song dynasty.

In the early 1960s, Stålhane explored new directions by turning to more substantial and glazed forms while experimenting with the various clays from the surrounding soil of Rörstrand.

In 1973, he decided to establish his own studio, "Designhuset". it was at this time that he deepened his artistic exploration in ceramics, drawing inspiration from the fascinating influences of China and Japan.
