Created between 1959 and 1965, the Brasiliana sofa is a luxurious design by Jorge Zalszupin. The softness of the voluminous cushions balances the minimalistic geometry of the wooden frame. Zalszupin’s exceptional sense of details is demonstrated here with the curving of the frame on the corners, as well as the precise brass joinery and the original rosewood buttons.

The sofa was named as a tribute to Brasilia, the recently founded Brazilian capital . The sinuous shapes of the wooden frame is reminiscent of Oscar Niemeyer’s signature curves in the building he designed in Brasilia.
