Designed by Pietro Chiesa in 1936 for Fontana Arte, this elegant table lamp illustrates the transition from the decorative sophistication of Art Deco to the more restrained language of early Italian modernism.

Its slender architectural structure combines two substantial elements of cut glass with delicate nickel-plated brass fittings, resting on a circular metal base. The softly illuminated paper shade, suspended at an angle, introduces a sense of movement and lightness to the otherwise rigorous vertical composition.

The contrast between the transparency and solidity of the glass, the precision of the metalwork and the warmth of the diffused light reflects Chiesa's exceptional understanding of materials. Both functional and refined, the lamp exemplifies the technical mastery and understated elegance that distinguished Fontana Arte's production during the 1930s.
