Renowned for his avant-gardist approach, Mathieu Matégot is one of the most famous French designer of the mid-20th century. Following the war, he established his own studio where he experimented on all kind of materials. He developed an innovative machine – which he named Rigitulle - allowing him to bend and perforate pieces of metal. His work particularly focuses on design made of transparent metal.
This iconic trolley, designed in 1954, consists of two trays made of perforated metal sheets supported by a thin tubular structure. A magazine rack is integrated to the lower tray. Practical, amusing and timeless, this trolley perfectly illustrates Mathieu Matégot’s incredibly modern work.
