Bold and subversive, « the male plug” lamp designed by Yonel Lebovici in 1978 stands as an iconic piece of the 1970s French design. Inspired by the Pop Art movement and the countercultural spirit of the time, this creation blends humor with provocation.
With its deliberately suggestive shape, the piece questions the norms of both aesthetics and social conventions. It oscillates between sculpture and functional object, and reflects Lebovici's intent to disrupt boundaries between the useful and the symbolic. The lamp was conceived as a limited edition art object.
