This PH5/3 floor lamp, designed between 1927 and 1928 by Poul Henningsen, embodies his pioneering approach to glare-free, layered lighting. Known for his close collaboration with Louis Poulsen, Henningsen designed the PH series to produce soft, diffused light through a rational, scientific study of reflection and glare control.

The model PH5/3, with its dome-like red lacquered shade and articulated painted bronze and copper structure, exemplifies the balance of functional precision and sculptural presence that characterizes early Scandinavian modern lighting. Originally developed during Denmark’s interwar period of lighting innovation, the lamp remains a design icon for its atmospheric quality and timeless silhouette.
