The legendary PK9 chair, designed by Poul Kjaerholm in 1960. This chair was manufactured by E. Kold Christiansen with the rare original cognac leather, and its magnificent patina. It is said, that Kjaerholm’s incessant quest for the perfect shape led him to design the PK9--which we now know is only half-true. Kjaerholm’s genius sparkled in late 1950’s as he turn’s his wife’s “tulip” (the true inspiration for the shape of the chair is derived from the imprint of his wife’s, Hanne Kjaerholm, derrière on a Danish sandy beach) into one of the most beautiful chairs ever produced. Much later in the design process, Hanne Kjaerholm sat for hours in molds of oil-based clay—all to help Poul discover the most remarkable and flawless design solution. Are you thinking what we’re thinking…..this is a work of love, by two lovers--and a chair that quite simply can’t be improved.
