In 1935, Perriand created the study room of 'la maison du jeune homme' for the 'Exposition Universelle' in Brussels, Belgium.
On either side of the worktable of the study room, 2 seats faced each other : 'the fauteuil pivotant en tube' and a wooden and straw armchair "Chamrousse".
Perriand adapted the Fauteuil dossier basculant that she designed in 1928 with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, using organic materials instead of tubular steel and metal. The use of wood and straw brings a sense of warmth to geometric structure of
the armchair, blending tradition and modernity and creating a timeless classic of the 20th century design.

She returned from French Indo-China to Paris in 1946. Together with Pierre Jeanneret she produces between 1946 and 1951 affordable wooden furniture, including this armchair "Chamrousse", for l'équipement de la maison.
