Walther Zander was a German ceramist who worked together with his wife, Karin Zander
Both completed their training and apprenticeships (1958–1961) with Gustav Grimm in Hamburg, where Walther Zander opened his own studio in 1961. Early experiments with glazing techniques for vessels and building ceramics as well as cooperation with architects soon led to numerous murals and reliefs that adorn Hamburg buildings to this day. In the field of vascular ceramics, built-up and freely turned stoneware and porcelain were the focus of her work, which were fired at temperatures of 1200-1300 °C. The Zanders used various feldspar, crystal and clay glazes in conjunction with partly novel glazing techniques.
