This exceptional table by Belgian designer Ado Chale exemplifies his highly personal approach to furniture design, where the boundary between functional object and sculptural form dissolves. This model, titled Soleil Maya, is a rare example of Chale's work in bronze, and represents the first casting of this form, created in 1968.
The cast bronze top features a solar radiating motif, echoing ancient cosmologies and natural geometries. Its circular shape and textured concentric rings create a hypnotic visual rhythm, referencing both Mayan symbolism and Chale's interest in mineralogical forms. With its monumental scale and subtle patina, this table embodies Chale’s philosophy of elevating natural motifs through refined artisanal processes.
