Carlo Hauner was born in Brescia, Italy, and studied industrial design in Milan. After Second World War, he immigrated to Brazil and founded the Moveis artesenal company, which later changed its name to Forma.

The forms and volumes of Hauner’s production are influenced by the contemporary context of industrial design as well as by the European modernism and rationalism. Progressively emancipating from the traditional aesthetics of Brazilian design characterized by a strong use of tropical materials, Hauner preferred the use of tubular metal and fabrics. Those armchairs are characterized by their enveloping shell-like seats and their thin tapered metal frameworks.
